MEET ROBERT HERM
Robert is a seasoned insurance industry professional with over 25 years of experience in the professional lines universe with unparalleled knowledge of financial institutions’ management liability and errors and omissions products. Previous engagements include primary drafting responsibility for policy forms for Directors and Officers (D&O) liability coverage for publicly traded entities, insurance company professional liability (ICPL) coverage, and multiple investment adviser and fund errors and omissions policies. Robert also consulted on private company D&O, employment practices liability, fiduciary liability, and Side A/DIC policy coverages.
Prior to forming Midway Pro Lines Risk Services, LLC, Robert was the Product Manager for Axis Capital Holdings, Ltd’s domestic financial institutions professional lines book, which was composed of over 1,500 policies and generated more than $175,000,000 of annual premium. The policy count included a preponderance of investment adviser and fund management professional liability primary and excess policies, in addition to fidelity bonds, errors and omissions, and management liability products for banks, insurance companies, and other financial institutions. Day-to-day responsibilities included policy form and endorsement review and drafting, approving or participating in the approval process of a majority of new business and renewal quotes, analysis of competitors’ forms in the professional lines universe to assess Axis’s competitive position, and discussions with the claims department on novel or complex claims.
During his thirteen-year tenure at Travelers, Robert held various underwriting and management roles, and from 2005 – 2013 he managed the New York office’s professional lines book for insurance companies and private equity firms and funds, conducted several training sessions for experienced underwriters on directors and officers liability issues, and was often selected for policy drafting committees.
Robert started his insurance career at Great American Insurance Company’s Executive Liability Division where he was responsible for underwriting and servicing the primary D&O policies for some of the largest domestic insurance companies at the time.
Robert is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and holds a CPA designation from the state of Illinois (both are currently on inactive status).
